Company Profile:
Microscopy for every application and every user
With European headquarters in Hamburg, Olympus is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional opto-digital products for medicine, science and industry. As a result, Olympus provides a comprehensive range for all market requirements. From microscopes for training and routine tasks to high-end system solutions in the fields of life and materials science, there is a system for every need. The product line is complemented by innovative laboratory equipment for cellular research applications and the new all-in-one microscopes offer user engagement at all levels.

Complete System Solutions

Microscopy is an indispensable tool for modern science and technology. With progressive developments in the areas of digital photography and digital image processing, analysis and archiving, the range of possible microscope applications has changed radically, especially in recent years. Today, for example, leading edge research areas such as microbiology and gene technology require highly professional and complex microscopy system solutions. It is only when a research microscope is integrated with a number of different peripheral devices to produce a complete software-controlled imaging solution, that processes in living cells be accurately visualised and analysed. To this end, Olympus develops custom software and hardware solutions for microscopical imaging in which all components are optimally integrated. Olympus users also get total peace of mind with comprehensive service and support at all times.

Systems for all

With the growing popularity of microscopy and imaging, an increasing number of scientists are utilising an expanding list of standard and advanced techniques. However, being able to operate the modern fluorescence or confocal laser scanning microscope (cLSM) has previously required the user to be proficient and understand the result of every adjustment made to the instrumentation. This is not always possible and as a result the workload of microscopy specialists is growing. Olympus has introduced a new concept in microscope-based imaging with its all-in-one fluorescence (FSX100) and cLSM (FV10i) instruments, which bring microscopy within much easier reach of all scientists. Carefully designed so that all components are ‘on-board’, including full dark-room facilities, the FSX100 and FV10i can be placed at the point of discovery – wherever that may be!
For inexperienced users, the optically superior FSX100 and FV10i offer a truly easy-to-use experience, guiding them from sample loading to image analysis without the need to manually adjust any components. For skilled users, the imaging systems bring a level of throughput not normally possibly and the FV10i water immersion model offers a self-contained, live-cell experiment system.

Power and precision in metrology

The Olympus LEXT OLS4000 mcLSM microscope enables metrology analysis through the incorporation of highly advanced optics and scanning technology to produce fine-detail surface topology images. By combining advanced optics, such as dual confocal pinholes and an intuitive interface to provide a unique, reliable and robust measuring confocal laser scanning microscope, 3D reconstruction of topologically complex objects becomes simple. Moreover, non-contact surface roughness measurements enable a wider range of more accurate results to be obtained.

The OLS4000 brings a number of additional features and enhanced functionality, including near-vertical slope capabilities, larger optical zoom and a navigation overview window. With outstanding resolution and magnification, LEXT is designed for researchers working between the limits of conventional optical microscopes and scanning electron microscopes (SEM), and can handle samples with the highest or lowest of contrasts.

The LEXT OLS4000 not only matches the challenges of the measurement laboratory, but also leads the way in establishing optical technology as the most flexible measurement systems available.
