Company Profile:

RSP Technology BV produce and develop aluminium alloys for optical applications, like mirrors, moulds, housings, mounting- and gimbal-systems, with advantages for surface roughness, shape stability, strength and low thermal expansion.

With its Rapid Solidification Process, RSP Technology is able to cool down materials at a speed of 10,000,000 º C per second, “freezing” the liquid alloy, giving it superior specifications over conventional casted alloys, due to it’s ultra-fine microstructure.

The aluminium alloys RSP produces (RSA-6061) have a microstructure which is a factor 10 x to 50 x finer than conventional aluminium and in addition has high purity. Therefore RSA-6061 mirrors reach a surface roughness which is a factor 2 (over 50%) lower than conventional aluminium, less then 2 nanometer.

In addition mechanical properties can be increased: high hardness, high stiffness, and high strength. The high strength at high temperature functionality can be used in optical mould and insert applications. Recent tests have shown that RSP material offers significant increase of tool life compared to conventional state of the art mould materials (Copper-Nickel alloys).
